Outs

Anthony Stokes

Derk Boerrigter

Stefan Scepovic

It looks like Anthony stokes time at the hoops is coming to a end , always a good servant to the club the Irishman hasent been able to hold down a first team role all season and it now looks likely Leeds will try and sign him this transfer window, Stokes for me always showed up when he played for Celtic and he scored many important goals, unfortunately Ronnie Deila obviously hasent got him in his plans with Carlton Cole even ahead of him for a striking role….

like any player who may leave the club they have to be applauded for there contribution , if indeed Stokes does leave , I’m not one for having a go at any player they will have bad days and good days, it seems though Stokes has had issues with the boss , another 2 players who may be heading for the exit are .Derk Boerrigter..and Stefan scepovic neither have had a easy time of it at Celtic but again theve pulled on the hoops and that’s good enough for me to wish them well in there future careers ……

Looking ahead

Stranraer in the Scottish Cup
Stefan Johansen new contract
Aberdeen in the league
Ross County in the league cup Semi final

The next 5 or so weeks will go a long way to deciding the direction the club is heading in , it’s been a tough few months for manager Ronnie Deila , the damage for most Celtic fans may be irreparable if you use social media , I am not in the lets get Ronnie out camp, I’ve always believed he could turn out to be a good coach , but I’m not going to rant on about stuff I’ve covered since day 1 , if you read the blog you’ll know I’ve backed Ronnie from the start…

Anyway the point of the post is to look ahead to a period where Celtic could be in a league cup final if they beat Ross County and if hibs win there game it could be a battle of the greens in the final , which would be a great occasion, great as our own Alan Stubbs is the Hibs manager , also personally I have a wee place in my heart for Hibernian …..

This coming weekend we have a Scottish cup tie against Stranraer away and it’s a team Celtic have played before in Scottish cup action see link http://www.celticmad.co.uk/head_to_head/celtic/vs/stranraer/index.shtml

With positivity needed in the next few months a win here at the weekend will be a good platform to build the 2 nd half of the season on , of course we can’t take Stranraer for granted , Celtic have fallen to lesser teams in the past , if we can push on and find some form the next 5 games it will be pivotal in the quest for a domestic treble that escaped Celtic last season …..

Between the 2 cup ties we have a trip to Tanadice to meet Dundee Utd Friday 15 th Jan who have had a horrendous season ,, it’s a Friday night game the first for us this season , games are always entertaining between the 2 but Celtic hold the upper hand in recent times ,St Johnstone follow that game sat 23 rd Jan at home and the last time the 2 met at parkhead the men from Perth left with a point , so Celtic will have to be wary…

The first week in Feb sees the hoops play probably there most important game of the season against title challengers Aberdeen on wed Feb 3 rd should they win this might just finish the Aberdeenshire challenge , and if Celtic Also win there game in hand at Hamilton they would have a 9 point lead going into the final phase of the season …..

With all these factors in play the nxt 5 weeks could very well shape the outcome of our season , with transfers in and out also having a part to play it’s a exciting time to be a fan, will Stefan Johansen get a new deal he’s not had the best season but his first season he showed what he’s capable of so I think he’s worth holding on too , whether Ronnie deila thinks there’s room for him with other transfers in mind we will have to see , happy new year to all who read the blog or anyone who’s taking a look for the first time , let’s hope we have 3 shiney cups end of May HH
